The official poster for the show shows an ocean-going ship that is heading towards an oblong hole in the ocean, with the line “what is lost will be found.” Netflix posted a teaser on September. 13 that included the tagline “what we have is an ocean drop.
The following day, Netflix Geeked tweeted “your journey starts in this brand new series from those who created DARK. 1899 will premiere available on Netflix November 17” as well as a brand-new poster to promote the show.
“Passengers on an immigrant ship traveling to the new continent get caught in a mysterious riddle when they find a second vessel adrift on the open sea,” is the official synopsis for the plot of the show set in the year 1899.
